EVENTS:
Referendum Roundtable: The Process, The Impact on Public Construction, and Lessons Learned From the Trenches It’s official, the new first step for public construction in Indiana is a successful referendum campaign—and it is a step on which too many public owners have stumbled. Please join us for a roundtable discussion of twists and turns of recent public referenda campaigns in central Indiana. Hear how the construction professionals and contractors can play a role in successful referendum campaigns. Listen to insiders discuss their insights on recent referendum initiatives. The panel will explain the differences and similarities between both types of recent referenda: capital construction projects and operating budget public questions. Each panelist will describe the important role that she/he played in the process and their reflections on what went right and what went wrong in their jurisdictions. Hear them describe particular challenges each campaign faced and key decisions along the way. Panelists will include school and public owner representatives and consultants who led and managed their referendum initiatives through election day - some who’ve succeeded and some who’ve yet to succeed.
